Myrtle S. Hawkins, 94, rural Wabasha

 Myrtle S. Hawkins, age 94, of rural Wabasha, died Sunday, September 22, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Wabasha, MN. She was born October 6, 1924, on the family farm in Glasgow Township, Wabasha County. She was child 16 of the 17 children of August and Augusta (Passe) Evers and she was the last surviving child. She graduated from St. Felix High School, Wabasha, MN and attended Northwest Technical College, St. Paul, MN. She was a lab/x-ray technician at Lake City Hospital prior to her marriage and at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital during the 1970’s.
 On October 16, 1948, she married William Hawkins at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha. They farmed on the Evers family farm in Glasgow Township until 1971 when they purchased the McGowan property & farmed there. William preceded her in death May 6, 2011.
 St. Felix was an important part of her life. She was a church choir member for over 40 years and active in the Council of Catholic Women and volunteered for many years at the American Red Cross. Farming and gardening kept her active and she was always involved with her family.
 Myrtle is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Cathy and Paul Irlbeck, Wabasha, MN and Mary and John Romig, Burnsville, MN; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Beth Hawkins, Nicollet, MN and Pete and Lisa Hawkins, Wabasha, MN; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant daughter, Margaret; son, Robert “Bob”, ten sisters and six brothers.
 The funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019, at St. Felix Catholic Church., Wabasha with Reverend Father Gregory Parrott and Reverend Monsignor Robert Meyer con-celebrating. Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery.
 Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the funeral to follow at 11:30 a.m.
 Casket bearers will be Myrtle’s grandchildren.
