Nancy Lee Palmersheim, 63, Wabasha

 Nancy Lee Palmersheim, age 63, of Wabasha, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015 as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Missouri. She was born December 29, 1951 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Milton and Doris (Rieken) Steffen. Nancy was a graduate of Crestwood High School in Cresco, IA. She received her nurse’s pin after graduating from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. She worked as an LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and the Wabasha Clinic in Wabasha and at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She furthered her education earning her registered nurses degree and worked as an RN at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha and also teaching classes at Winona Technical College in Winona. She married Michael Palmersheim December 16, 1972 in Elma, IA.
 Nancy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, gardening, quilting and reading. Her greatest joy was being a loving grandma to her six grandchildren and spending as much time as she could with them. Nancy was an extraordinary listener and a selfless friend to many. She was a shining example of what it means to be a good Christian. Her life mission was to help others help themselves. She will be loved always.
 She is survived by husband, Mike Palmersheim, Wabasha, MN; children, Christy Palmersheim (Kevin Vaughan), Pewaukee, WI, Rachel (Brad) Thimmesch, Wabasha, MN, Dave (Jamie) Palmersheim, Hayfield, MN; six grandchildren, Lukas, Weston and Ruby Lee Thimmesch and Kaleb, Austin and Grant Palmersheim; mother, Doris Steffen, Riceville, IA; siblings, Norma (Bob) Gronwoldt, Waterloo, IA, Nadine (Tony) Goergen, Rochester, MN, Russell (Tammy) Steffen, Sumner, IA, Carol (Thomas) Eling, Duluth, MN, Karen (Eric) Idso, Stewartville, MN; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Steffen.
 A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11:00am at Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha with the Reverend David Knox and Intern Pastor Joshua Kestner officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville, IA. Family and friends called at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Monday from 4-8pm and at the church on Tuesday one hour before the service. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha was in charge of arrangements. www.abbottfh.com
