Nicholas ‘Nick’ Marx

Nicholas “Nick” Marx, 71 of Wabasha, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Nicholas John was born February 13, 1951, in Wabasha to Henry and Mary (Wodele) Marx. He graduated from Wabasha-Kellogg High School in 1969. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy from October 1969 to October 1973. He served aboard the USS Pogy (SSN 647), a nuclear submarine. Aside from his Navy service, he was a life-long area resident. He was employed at DIACRO, Lake City, and he retired from Valley Craft, Lake City in 2017.
Nick was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha; a life member of the American Legion Post 50, Wabasha and the VFW Post 4086, Wabasha. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking, and walking.
He is survived by his siblings: Michael Marx, Mesa, AZ; Mary Lou Schneider, Salina, KS; Peter (Brenda) Marx, Wabasha, MN, Harold (Merribeth) Marx, Mesa, AZ; Claire Abbott, Wabasha, MN; Matthew (LeAnne) Marx, Wabasha, MN; many nieces, nephews and a special friend Lina Walsh, Red Wing, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary (Wodele) Marx; a brother Charles; and two brothers-in-law: Monte Schneider and Jim Abbott.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, MN. Interment will be at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha. Military honors provided by Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post 4086, Wabasha, and the American Legion Post 50, Wabasha.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth Foundation, Hiawatha Humane Society, St. Felix Church, or the donor’s choice.
