Richard ‘Rich’ Matthew Binner, 82, Wabasha

Richard “Rich” Matthew Binner, 82, a life long resident of Wabasha, MN returned to his heavenly home on February 22, 2019 after a hard fought battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Richard was born on June 24, 1936 to the late Elizabeth and Emil Binner, a homemaker and a farmer from Wabasha, MN. Following his graduation from St. Felix High School, Rich attended Dunwoody School of Technology. Rich proudly served his country in the US Army and Army Reserve. Upon returning home, Rich had a successful career as a general contractor and was the owner of Binner Construction. He established himself as a true craftsman. He was a man of his word with integrity and was highly respected in the community of which he served.
Rich was blessed with a loving family. He married Darlene Sass on September 14, 1963 at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha, MN. Together they raised three sons, Mark of Eagan, MN, Craig of Austin, TX and Neal of Wabasha, MN. He was a hardworking man and devoted father who by example, instilled the values of a strong family and work ethic into his boys.
He is survived by his sisters, Eleanore Dick, Marcia Oberstead, Agatha Hubbard, Mary Abuan, and Kathy Smieja, grandchildren, Tyler Binner, Brook Binner, Chase Binner, Lexi Binner and Parker Binner. He is preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth and Emil Binner, brother Joe Binner and grandson Dustin Binner.
A memorial service will be held at a future date with family and friends.
