Richard Andrews

Richard Andrews passed away on June 26, 2024, at 89 years old. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 18, 1934. He resided there until he graduated HS. During HS he joined the National Guard for three years and then joined the U.S. Army in 1953. He and his wife Carolyn were married in Chicago, Il in 1963, where they purchased a home in the Chicago Suburb of Bridgeview and had four daughters.
Richard always worked for himself or a family-owned business. He eventually moved his family to Antioch, IL in 1975 to their summer home where they resided for 42 years. Where his family enjoyed a life of boating, snowmobiling, fishing, water and snow skiing, and motorcycling. Then they finally settled in Wabash, MN in their later years. He and his predeceased wife Carol spent years in Wabasha, fishing and enjoying the community with their family and friends since the late 1970’s. They also purchased a tavern on Main Street in Wabasha in 1995 and a summer home on Hiawatha Dr. in 2002. They moved to Wabash full time in 2016.
In Rich’s younger years, he enjoyed stock car racing, where he won several first place trophies. Rich was a retired mechanic. During his lifetime, he owned a leather shop in Chicago, where he made Harley saddlebags, that he was very proud of. He was a Harley man! He was also a roofer, a carpenter, a landlord, owned several taverns, and was a general jack of all trades.
The family has chosen not to hold a public service. His family will be holding a private service in IL where his family still resides.
He left behind four daughters, Debbie, Tina, Laurie and Shari, sons-in-law, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and kept in their hearts forever.
