Richard A. Arens, 86, Webster, MN

Richard A. Arens, 86 of Webster, MN and formerly of Kellogg, MN and Hopkins, MN, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center, New Prague.
Richard was born June 23, 1934, in Wabasha to Matthew and Bess (Odell) Arens. He graduated from Kellogg High School and from the Dunwoody Institute with a degree in drafting. He served in the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged. On October 16, 1954, he married Lillian F. Buchholz and they moved to Hopkins and then Webster. Lillian preceded him in death on June 3, 1974.
He was formerly employed at Farmhand as an engineering draftsman and worked till retirement as a boiler engineer for Super Value Corporation, both in Hopkins.
Richard was greatly respected for the caring and loving father he was to his children he reared after Lillian’s premature death in 1974. He loved spending time with his family and friends, taking small road trips, music and dancing.
Richard is survived by his children: Michael (Patti) Arens, Duluth, MN; Timothy (Becky) Arens, Lonsdale, MN; Katherine (Ronny) Krautkremer, New Prague; Teresa Arens, Lonsdale, MN; and Mark (Sandy) Arens, Webster, MN; and special companion Barbara Perry and her family; 10 grandchildren: Andy, Christina, Joseph, Keith, Kalie, Corey, Jason, Leander, Matthew and Christopher; 13 great grandchildren: Samantha, Aiden, Ashton, Emma, Brylie, Claire, Jayden, Aubrey, Noah, Isabella, Lillian, Elwood, and Briella; sister: Elinor Graner; sister-in-laws: Charlotte Arens, Janice Arens, Elaine (Buchholz) Stiehl, and Sandy (Buchholz) Dailey; brother-in-laws: Edward (Jean) Buchholz; Dale Rieck and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew & Bess Arens; step-mother Emma Arens; wife Lillian; an infant daughter Elizabeth; wife’s parents: Edward & Hazel Buchholz; brothers: Odell Arens, John Arens and William Arens; sister: Margaret Dittrich; sister & brother in-laws: Eleanor Arens, William Graner, Gerhard & Muriel (Buchholz) Fremstad, Janice (Buchholz) Rieck, Thomas & Vernell (Buchholz) Drazkowski, Donald & Thelma (Buchholz) Dierauer and Carl Dailey; Niece: Ellen Dierauer; Nephews: Larry Dittrich, Jim Arens, Robby Rieck, Tom Graner and Danny Graner.
A private funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Kellogg, with The Very Reverend Patrick Arens officiating. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery, Kellogg.
