Richard Herrmann

 Richard A. “Dick” Herrmann, age 79, of Greenville, SC and Wabasha, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. He was born December 24, 1935 in Wabasha, the youngest child of Paul and Lillian (Simons) Herrmann. Dick was a graduate of St. Felix High School in Wabasha. He then attended and graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee. He furthered his education there, receiving his Masters of Mechanical Engineering. He was an alumnus of Sigma Phi Kappa, an engineering fraternity. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenville.
 Dick married his college sweetheart, Patricia Monaghan, August 23, 1958 at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He worked 17 years for AC Sparkplug/Delco Electronics in California and later in Milwaukee. He then worked a few years for Harley Davidson in Milwaukee and then 24 years in Greenville for Michelin. He retired in 2003. The couple purchased a small cabin on Sand Prairie in rural Wabasha so they could be close to the town that he loved and the town he considered to be his home. It is where they spent their succeeding summers. He has since remodeled the cabin into a beautiful home. He and Pat also enjoyed travelling together, especially to Germany and France. He loved spending time with his adoring family, especially his grandchildren. Dick was an intellectual man, a forward thinker and a planner. He will be missed dearly by his family and all of his many friends.
 He is survived by his wife, Patricia Herrmann, Greenville, SC; children and spouses, Paul and Vicki Herrmann, Knoxville, IA, Kerry and Douglas Schnier, Brookfield, WI, Laurie and Carl Clemencich, Allen, TX, Amy and Mike Spears, Fort Walton Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Noll, Wabasha, MN; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Albers, Greenville, SC, Emilie Monaghan, Oconomowoc, WI, Patricia Monaghan, St. Pete Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Simons, Ethel “Mitzi” Haase, Joan “Gunner” Niederkorn and Carol Schoen and brother, Paul “Bud” Herrmann.
 A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Felix Catholic Church with the Reverend Monsignor Thomas Cook officiating. Interment will be in St. Felix Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Richard and Joseph Schnier, David Herrmann and Paul Clemencich. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Tuesday from 4-7pm where there will be a rosary service at 6:30pm. Family and friends may also call at the church one hour before the Mass. Memorials are preferred to St. Felix School. The Abbott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.abbottfh.com
