Robert ‘Bob’ Edward Plote, 82

Robert “Bob” Edward Plote, 82, of Lake City and formerly of Rochester, passed away Monday evening, November 9, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. He was born February 19, 1938 in Lake City to Fredrick and Evelyn (Krause) Plote. Bob attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Lincoln High School in Lake City. He served in the 544th Army Reserves Unit out of Wabasha during the Vietnam Era. On September 12, 1959 he married Joyce Hermundson in Wabasha.
After marriage they lived in Lake City until 1980 when they moved to Rochester. Bob was employed by IBM in Rochester from 1964 – 1994. In 2016 the Plote’s moved back to Lake City. He enjoyed golfing and word find books, and especially loved spending time with the grandkids. He was a former member of the Lake City Jaycee’s, and currently a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Rochester.
Bob is survived by his two daughters, Brenda Plote of Lake City and Renee (John) Vehrenkamp of Saint Charles; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandy ( Richard) McQuiston of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Joyce, a brother, Richard, and a sister, Janell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 13, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel, with Pastor Brian Kom officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City with Military Rites by the Lake City American Legion and Lake City VFW. Friends and family may visit from 12:30 p.m. on Friday until the time of service at the funeral home. Masks are required and please practice social distancing.
