Roberta F. Turner, 87, formerly of Wabasha

Roberta F. Turner, age 87, of Grand Meadow and formerly of Wabasha, MN died Monday November 13, 2017 at Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Grand Meadow.
Roberta Miller was born February 01, 1930 in Clay County, Iowa to Leo and Lillie (Lundt) Miller. As an infant she moved with her parents and sister, to a farm in Mitchell County, Iowa near McIntire. In 1939 the family moved to a farm near Osage, IA  where they lived for a short time before moving to a farm near Grand Meadow in 1941. After attending country school near Grand Meadow she attended Grand Meadow High School graduating in 1947. In June of that year she went to Rochester where, after Secretarial training, she work in the Anatomy department with Dr W. H. Hollinshead for 3 years.  On May 30, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert Turner at the Methodist Church in Grand Meadow. Over the next several years they lived and worked in Grand Meadow, Austin and then back to Grand Meadow, to the Turner family farm. During this time they were rearing 4 children while also sharing their home with 7 foster children. Roberta was active in the local 4-H, the Cub scouts, teaching Sunday school, church work and helped organize the senior dining in Grand Meadow.  After their children were grown, Roberta began dealing in antiques and eventually built a shop on the west edge of Grand Meadow, she thoroughly enjoyed this time in her life. Robert and Roberta lived by Grand Meadow until 1993 when they moved from the farm and started a new chapter in their lives in Wabasha, MN where they enjoyed the people and scenery along the river. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and her husband’s death in 2009, she moved back to the Grand Meadow area to be near her daughter and family.
She is survived by her children: Rebecca (Dave) Schulz of Grand Meadow, Eugene (Marilyn) Turner of Coon Rapids, MN, and Andrew (Kat) Macleod of Billings, MT, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, her husband, son Donovan, and a granddaughter. 
Memorial services were held 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 18, 2017 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with Pastor Marie Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Grand Meadow Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church. Family requests memorials be made to Parkinson’s Foundation.
