Roy A. Hagen, 92, Wabasha, formerly of Cloquet

 Roy A. Hagen, of Wabasha, formerly of Cloquet, died on his 92nd birthday, August 26, 2019, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha. He was born August 26, 1927 in Cloquet, the son of Andrew and Elvie (Pantsar) Hagen. Roy was a graduate of Cloquet High School. He began his working career at the paper mill in Cloquet while still in high school. Forty one years later, in 1985, he retired as a lab technician from Potlach Paper Co., formerly known as Northwest Paper Co. Roy also was an independent home builder in the Cloquet area, building homes in his “spare time”. He married Beatrice Peterson June 18, 1949 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet. The couple moved to Wabasha in 2011to be near their daughter, Julie. Bea died January 3, 2017.
 Roy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha and a former member and active volunteer of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet. He was an avid golfer and a past member of the Cloquet Country Club. He and Bea also enjoyed camping with their family during the summer months.
 He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Debra Hagen, Forest Lake, MN, Ronald and Kathy Hagen, Grant, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jay Anderson, Wabasha, MN; seven grandchildren, James (Susan) and Matthew Hagen, Terese (Brian) Azevedo, Amy (Joel) Santerre, Megan (Cory) Peine, Benjamin (Shelanna) Kreye and Andrew Kreye; five great-grandchildren, Henry, Cora, Lucy, Leona and Samuel; sister, Dorothy Huard, Cloquet, MN; sister-in-law, Charlene Hagen, Cloquet, MN; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice, and three brothers, Donald, Robert and Dwayne Hagen.
 A memorial service was held at Faith Lutheran Church in Wabasha on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 12 Noon with the Reverend David Knox officiating. Interment followed at Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha. Family and friends called the church on Thursday one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to either of Roy’s two favorite charities-Luther Seminary, 2481 Como Ave., St. Paul, MN 55108 or ELCA World Hunger Appeal, P.O. Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764.
