School board reviews W-K values and how they align with the strategic pla
Wade McKittrick of BetterU updated the school board on the district's strategic planning process. He reported that the engagement efforts were successful and that a complete plan outline would be presented to the school board at the June meeting. The process began in January and wrapped up by the end of February. During that time, 18 focus groups were held, bringing together 185 community stakeholders. According to McKittrick, the sessions yielded valuable insights, and participants were supportive and enthusiastic. One encouraging outcome was the emergence of common themes across the various focus groups, suggesting shared priorities within the community. The input gathered was then incorporated into a prioritization survey, the results of which closely reflected the themes discussed during the focus groups.Starting in February, the team compiled and analyzed the data. In April, they convened a Strategic Planning Committee of 14 members, who met three times to discuss themes and topics more in-depth. This committee included a diverse group of local stakeholders, such as parents, business owners, educators, school administrators, and community leaders: Kala Koch (Parent and PTO Reprsentative), Miranda Gray-Bur-lingame (Business Owner and Parent), Jay Jewson (Business Owner and Parent), Emily Du-rand (Mayor of Wabasha and Parent), Neil Hedquist (Teach-er), Andrea Day (Teacher), Melody Kurtti (Teacher), Sar-ah Schuster (Teacher), Angie Wodele (District Administra-tive Assistant), Chad Pederson (High School Principal), Anne Wasmund (Falcon View On-line Principal), Dan Murtha (Elementary Principal), Riley Costello (School Board, parent), and Nels Onstad (Super-intendent).
