Steven Robert McDonald, age 59, of Caledonia Minnesota passed away January 19, 2025.Steve was born April 28, 1966 in Wabasha, Minnesota.He was preceded in death by his father Charles and his brother Dave.Steve passed away surround-ed by love, leaving behind a family who was the center of his world. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Beth, and a deeply proud and loving father to his son, Brendan, which were roles he cherished above all else.Steve grew up in Reads Landing, Minnesota, where his lifelong love for the outdoors took root. He was happiest near the water, fly rod in hand, often heading out to “just check the stream” before settling in for hours of fishing. Fly fishing was more than a pastime, it was where Steve found peace, reflection, and joy. His love of the sport took him on many memorable fishing adventures, including trips to Cuba and beyond. He also enjoyed hunting and spending as much time outdoors as possible, always drawn to nature. Above all, he enjoyed spending his favorite hobbies with his son, Brendan, and lived vicariously through him in every aspect of his life. Family meant everything to Steve. In addition to Beth and Brendan, he is survived by his loving mother Joanne and four siblings Mike, Kathy, Pat and Charlie, who will forever cherish his loyalty, humor, and steady presence.Even while being faced with uncertainty and tribulations, Steve never wavered in his faith and never allowed doubt to overshadow his beliefs in God and the love he shared with his family.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 31st, at St. Mary’s Church in Caledonia, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall, with mass to follow at 11:00 am.
