Tom Jordan
Tom Jordan, aged 72, died Sunday morning, December 17, 2023, of complications from esophageal cancer. He fought the good fight for a year and a half, but the Big C so often wins these matches.
Tom was born April 16, 1951, to Clyde W and Frances E (Hixson) Jordan. He grew up on a farm outside of Kellogg, Minnesota. He was a salt of the earth Minnesota farm boy. He graduated from Wabasha Public School in 1970, served his hitch in the Army in Viet Nam, and then studied small engine repair in Winona at what is now Minnesota State College – Southeast. He worked for 10 years at a foundry in Lake City and then for a short time at a manufacturer in Shakopee. He spent most of his working life, 29 years, with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, in Mendota Heights, as a highway maintenance specialist and crew supervisor.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Taylor Jordan of Kellogg.
Tom is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Stephanie Thoreson, sister, Roberta Jordan of Minneapolis, brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Taryn Thoreson of Zumbrota, nephews Michael Schmidt of Minneapolis, Blake (Emily) Thoreson of Zumbrota and Colton (Nasha) Thoreson of Brooklyn Center.
Family and friends will celebrate his life on Thursday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m., Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 3930 Rahn Road, Eagan, MN. Interment will be at a later date at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
