Virginia Mae Fosmo
Virginia Mae Fosmo, 97 of Wabasha, MN, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Gundersen St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Wabasha.
Virginia was born September 1, 1927, in Ellsworth, WI, to Hilda (Klecker) and John Wussler. She graduated from Ellsworth High School before attending St. Theresa College in Winona, MN as a music major.
On September 20, 1948, she married F. Elliott “Fos” Fosmo. Together they had seven children: Mary Lyn, Rita, Mary Ann, Nancy, Linda, Mikel, and Jeff. She was employed as a Wabasha City Clerk for 20 years.
Virginia was a member of St. Theresa Alumni; an officer for Council of Catholic Women; and an officer for the Coffee Mill Women’s Golf Association. She received the Bishop’s Medal; was the organist and choir director for St. Felix Catholic Church, and head of the organ restoration fund drive.
She is survived by her children: Mary Lyn Vach; Rita (John) Arens; Mary Ann Marsolek; Nancy (Dr. Tim) Morgan; Linda (Dr. Stephen) Kopecky; Mikel Fosmo; and Jeff (Kathy) Fosmo; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and a sister Cleo (Jack) Lute; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elliott and a sister Bernadine Fox.
A Funeral Mass was at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, with her grandson, The Very Rev. Patrick Odell Arens officiating. Interment was at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.
Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 11 at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha, with a prayer service held at 6:45 p.m. There was no visitation at the church before Mass.
