Wabasha County residents on Nov. 5 approved a bond issue with the Wabasha-Kellogg School District, authorizing the W-K School Board to issue general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $16,200,000, to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities.
Improvements will include construction of secure entrances and a new roof to the school building; the completion of HVAC upgrades and improvements; addition and updating fire alarm and smoke detection systems; and renovations to classrooms and the media center, including upgrades to career and technical education (CTE) classrooms, science labs, and learning spaces at the school site and facility.
The vote was 762 for and 468 against issuing the bonds.

Minnesota voters favored renewing the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) and amending Minnesota’s Constitution to protect drinking water sources and the water quality of lakes, rivers, and streams; conserve wildlife habitat and natural areas; improve air quality; and expand access to parks and trails by extending the transfer of proceeds from the state-operated lottery to the environment and natural resources trust fund, and to dedicate the proceeds for these purposes.
More than $1 billion has been delivered to environmental projects since the ENRTF was established with voter approval of a constitutional amendment in 1988.
