Wayne A. Redding, 88, Wabasha

 Wayne A. Redding, age 88, of Wabasha, formerly of Rosemount, Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Papa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha. Wayne was born September 23, 1929 in Waukesha, WI, raised in Waterloo, IA, and moved to Minnesota where he resided until his death. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force in between WWII and the Korean War. Wayne worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in the Rosemount and Kellogg areas. He was a member of the Weaver United Methodist Church.
 He was an avid fisherman, gun collector, and card player who had a mischievous, quick-witted sense of humor who loved to make everyone laugh. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was a kind, friendly and compassionate man who cared for others before himself. We will all miss you but know that you will be watching over and guiding us. Go and catch those big fish and may you always have the best hand of cards!
 Wayne is survived by wife, Mary; daughters, Jacqueline and Jody; adopted children, Shawn, Shane and Kim; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Blaine, Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, Jamie, Robyn, Ryan and Mikaela;15 great-grandchildren; brother, Cecil; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velda, and two sons, Michael and Gary.
 A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00am at the Kellogg United Methodist Church with the Reverends Cheryl Nymann and Darwin Moore officiating. Interment will be at Greenfield Cemetery in rural Kellogg. Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion Post #50, the Kellogg American Legion Post #546, the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086, and active members of the U. S. Air Force. Family and friends may call at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha on Wednesday from 4-7pm and at the church on Thursday one hour before the service. The family prefers memorials.
