William R Dick
William R Dick, 74, “Bill” and Billy to his family, was born Mar. 26,1951 to Leo andLucille (Hielscher) Dick in Wabasha MN and died Dec. 22, 2025, of glioblastoma. To say Bill loved the outdoors is not enough. Bill’s life was everything that could be done outdoors. He spent his childhood on the heels of his dad learning everything he could from him. He grew up a master of fishing and hunting, including hunting for morels, ginseng, black caps and wild plumbs. And he was a teacher to anyone who was lucky enough to learn from his experience and knowledge of all things to do with nature. He especially loved teaching young people he knew, who had the same passion for the outdoors. Bill had respect and reverence for what nature offered us for the taking. He also spent many hours playing softball, basketball, skiing, biking, golfing, and a simple daily walk in the woods with his beloved dogs. He shared his love of the outdoors with his daughter Sarah. Bill and Sarah loved singing in the car to the rock and roll oldies. Bill lived and worked in Winona for over 50 years. He worked as an electrical assemblyman at Thern, Inc. as well as Van Norman and other companies. He served in the Navy in Vietnam. He was married to Trudie Kloster and later divorced. Bill was a humble man who made everyone he knew, feel that they meant something to him. His smile and laugh warmed your heart. He will be missed by his daughter Sarah Daniel (Chris) siblings: Jim (Judy), Jeani Wodele (David), Ken (Diane), Marilyn, Marie Hendel (Phil), Dan (Jayne), Glen (Cheri), David (Amy), special friend Barbara, an uncle and aunts, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and an abundance of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life gathering will be 1-4 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026 at the VFW Wabasha, MN.
