A Window Into the Past: A Series

Horse Thieves at Wabasha, July 4, 1902
A gang of horse thieves who have made this section of the county their scene of depredations for the past few months, paid a visit to two Wabasha Parties, J.B. Passe and the Wabasha Lumber Company on Monday night. And made their escape with two horses. Sheriff Dickman, assisted by one or two deputies, took up the trail when he learned of the raid. The horses were traced to Thelma and there the trail was lost, for the milk wagons began running at that hour and the marks of the horses’ hoofs were obliterated. Suspicion rests very heavily upon a well-known character, but nothing has been proven as yet and the horses have not been recovered.
