Yvonne R. Meyer

Yvonne R. Meyer, 85, of Wabasha passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Gundersen-Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital. She had resided at Saint Elizabeth’s Nursing Home for close to 4 years prior to her death.
Yvonne was born December 1, 1937 in Wabasha to Joseph and Elizabeth (Miller) Kohn. She was a life-long Wabasha resident and attended and graduated from Saint Felix Catholic School. On October 22, 1966, she married Leo J. Meyer, son of John and Mary (Tushaus) Meyer. Yvonne worked as an accountant for 34 years in the office of the Wabasha County Highway Department until her retirement.
Yvonne enjoyed camping and fishing over the years with Leo by her side. She liked to play bingo and cards, and also belonged to a women’s bowling league. She loved entertaining for family and friends and was a great party/event planner. Yvonne and Leo experienced many enjoyable bus trips during their retirement years and spending time with family was always a priority. Yvonne will always be remembered for the wonderful care she provided for her mother, Elizabeth (Liz) Kohn.
She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Saint Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.
She is survived by her sister-in-laws Marietta (Sam) Kohn, Eleanor (Lawrence) Meyer along with 21 nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Miller) Kohn, husband Leo Meyer, infant son Bruce Meyer, brothers Mathew (Sam) Kohn, Joseph (Dodo) Kohn, sisters Mary (Toots) McGrath, Helen MacDougall, Elizabeth (Bette) McGrath, brother-in-laws Sylvester (Lefty) McGrath, Gordon (Mac) MacDougall, Daniel McGrath, niece Barbara MacWilliams, nephews Patrick McGrath, Jon Kohn and her mother and father-in-law John and Mary (Tushaus) Meyer.
A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Saint Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with Father Prince Raja officiating.
Visitation at the church prior to the Mass. Interment will be at Saint Felix Cemetery, Wabasha.
