Georgianna Hahn

Georgianna “Janna” Engavaar Hahn, 90, of Augusta passed away on November 14, 2018. Janna was born November 20, 1927 the only child of Eslie and Thelma (Moen) Hilts. Janna married Roger “Buzzy” on June 12, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Augusta. Janna was the proud mother of four children, Roger “Jody”, Sandra, Glen “George” and John. Janna lived her entire life in Augusta where she graduated from Augusta High School in the class of 1945. After high school she worked as a secretary at Virgil Dickensen’s Insurance Company, Presto, Augusta Canning Company and later as a bookkeeper for the Augusta School District. After her children were raised Janna went to work for Eau Claire County, first as a cook and matron in the jail and later a certified law enforcement officer and was a jailer until her retirement. Janna was a lifetime member of the Augusta American Legion Auxiliary.
Janna is preceded in death by her husband Roger “Buzzy” on March 12, 2001, son John on March 5, 2011 and son Roger “Jody” on June 21, 2011, grandson Christian Boettcher on June 4, 2015 and her parents Eslie and Thelma Hilts. Janna leaves behind to mourn her passing, Sandra and Gerald Boettcher and their children Jennifer Nyairo, Jeremy and wife Alisha, and Stephanie Boettcher; son Glen “George” and his daughter Amy; daughter-in-law Peggy Hahn and her children Peter, Patrick and wife Amy, Paula and her husband Chris Denk; daughter-in-law Laurie Hahn and her son Skyler, along with eleven great grandchildren Macy, Preston, Isaac, Caitlin, Bennet, Abby, Brody, Dylan, Mason, Aydan and Aryona also numerous nieces and nephews.
Janna was blessed to have wonderful caregivers who made it possible for her to stay at home and enjoy time with her bird “Kermit” and dog “Furby”. Her children and grandchildren will always remember the many hours that were spent around the table drinking coffee and enjoying the company of family and friends.
A visitation was held Monday, Nov. 19, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Augusta, with memorial services at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial followed at East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. The family was assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful and loving caregivers that Janna had over the past several years and to the Mayo Home Hospice Team for their care and support. All of you were such a blessing to Janna and your kindness will never be forgotten.
