Wayne Bauch

Wayne E. Bauch, 77, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018, while working at his property in Ludington Township, rural Fall Creek.
Wayne Ewald Bauch, son of Ewald and Margaret (Bloch) Bauch was born Feb. 19, 1941 in Eau Claire. As a child he moved with his family to their farm in rural Augusta, where he attended Diamond Valley Country School. He went on to graduated from Augusta High School in 1959 and serve in the Army National Guard. He had worked in an ordinance plant in Joliet, Illinois, before moving back to Augusta.
Wayne was united in marriage to Susan Wolfgang on June 7, 1969, at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. The couple lived all their married life in their present home in Augusta, where they raised their four children.
Wayne had worked in Eau Claire at both Presto Industries and the Uniroyal Tire Plant before taking the maintenance position at the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls. He retired after 20 years with the Rutledge Home. In 1987, Wayne purchased the Augusta Root Beer Stand and operated it for 13 years with the help of his wife and children. He and his wife had also owned and operated Elsie’s Café in Fall Creek for a short time. Since his retirement he had concentrated his time taking care of various rental properties he owned.
Wayne relaxed by spending time with his family. He hunted and fished with his children and grandchildren and also spent many enjoyable hours fishing with his mother. He and his family together built a retirement home for his mother and father-in-law in rural Fall Creek. When his children were small they often ventured out on family vacations throughout the United States. Wayne and Sue also had the opportunity to travel through several European countries.
Wayne will be dearly missed by Susan, his loving wife of 49 years; daughter Jennifer and Peter Pfefferkorn of Port Edwards; 3 sons, Timothy (Melanie) Bauch of Clermont, Iowa, Mark (Amelia Dalton) Bauch of Portland, OR, Michael (Tricia Schmidt) Bauch of St. Paul, MN; 8 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, Evan, Julia and Sean Pfefferkorn, Kyle and Collin Bauch, Oliver and Riley Bauch, Alexander and Samuel Dalton; 3 sisters, Joan (Carlo) Angelo of Dallas, TX, Ardith Lawson of Verona, WI, Linda Smith of Augusta; sister-in-law Vikki Jo (Curt) Huth of Augusta; brother-in-law, Matthew Wolfgang of Chippewa Falls; aunts, Bernadine Boernke of Eau Claire, Phyllis Strauch of Fall Creek; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald in March of 1988, and Margaret in Nov. of 2010.
A visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Jonathan Wessel will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at a later date in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta. The family is assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
