Adam John Biesterveld

Adam John Biesterveld, 47 of Rock Falls, passed away August 31, 2026, at home with family after a courageous 3 ½ year battle of metastatic colon cancer.
He was born October 8, 1978, in Durand to the late Gerald and Mary (Brenner) Biesterveld.
Adam’s roots were firmly planted in the rich farming soil of Wisconsin, where he grew up surrounded by the warmth and guidance of his family. He attended Grandview Elementary, Durand Jr High, and graduated from Durand High School in 1997, and continued farming alongside his father. After his father’s passing in 2010 Adam continued to farm until his final days.
On October 4, 2003, Adam married his beloved partner, Paula Schutz of Elmwood. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and the joy of raising their three sons: Eli, Garrett, and Kaleb. Adam’s deep love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and dreams. He loved working alongside his sons and teaching them the day-to-day operations of the farm. Farming was a responsibility he carried with dedication and passion. Farming has been a symbol of continuity and resilience, reflecting Adam’s commitment to preserving his family’s heritage and contributing to the community’s agricultural roots.
In his younger years he enjoyed some (many) shenanigans with friends, snowmobiling, and showing cattle for 4H and FFA. As he got older and found time to take off, he was always up for a trip. He was able to travel to Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Washington DC, Hiking in Colorado, Nashville, Texas, Wisconsin Dells, Duluth, Milwaukee, and most recently a trip out West to South Dakota, many places visiting more than once. He enjoyed history and learning about anything. Most of all he enjoyed any time he could spend with his wife and sons whether it be watching them play sports, showing animals at the fair, or just talking around the kitchen table. Anytime with them was the best time.
Surrounded by the love of his family, Adam shared a close bond with his sisters, Laura Biesterveld and Emily Cook, who have been steadfast companions throughout his life. Always available for a phone call and check in to see how things were going or any advice either of them needed. He was often seen with his headset on and can of Mtn. Dew in hand conversing with someone or many throughout the day.
Through his work and personal life, Adam has touched many lives with his kindness, work ethic, wittiness and unwavering support. His legacy is one of hard work, strength, compassion, and an enduring spirit that will leave a mark on all who know him.
Adam is survived by his loving wife Paula, their children Eli (Addisyn), Garrett, Kaleb and bonus son Riley, Mother-in-law Joyce Schutz, two sisters Laura Biesterveld (Gabe) and Emily Cook (Barry), Brothers in law Matthew and Craig Schutz (Jill), sister-in-law Patricia Cassellius (Rusty). Nieces and nephews Evan, Grant, Riley, Makiah, Kendall, Parker, Ella, Kallie, Tanner, Colten, Landon, and Emerson.
Adam is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and father-in-law Duane Schutz.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00PM-4:00PM Sunday, September 13, 2026 at the Durand Rod & Gun Club in Durand.
