Dennis Neil Richardson

Dennis Neil Richardson, age 76, of Ellsworth, died December 10, 2021 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on December 6, 1945 in Durand; the third son of Neil and Evelyn (Rose) Richardson. He was raised in Arkansaw, Wisconsin where he graduated from high school and attended Eau Claire Technical. Following this, he enlisted in the Armed Forces and proudly served in the United Stats Marine Corps. During the end of his enlistment, he would meet his soul mate. On November 3, 1972 he was united in marriage to Susan Billings in Corydon, Iowa. This union would be blessed with a daughter and a son. Dennis embarked on a successful career with 3M Company working as an oxide technician.
Dennis enjoyed the little things in life. He appreciated the beauty of the outdoors and the splendor of an oak tree. He enjoyed scroll saw wood working and sharing his creations with family. He always looked forward to fall deer hunting with the guys and snowmobiling in the winter. A quiet day on his Allis Chalmers was more therapeutic than work. He even tried his hand at lobster fishing in Maine, but sea-sickness was the deciding factor for not pursuing that career. Complications from heart surgery in 2000 left him with many deficits. Although it was life altering, it did not diminish his spirits and with Sue’s assistance he lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed reading Louie L’Amour books, playing Solitaire and 500, with friends, and keeping his skills sharp doing adult color pencil arts. He loved watching documentaries on TV; especially when they were about tractors, military conflict or hunting. He was a liken to old time westerns or a soft hearted Hallmark movie. His greatest love came from being surrounded by his family and grandchildren. But let’s not forget to include his two best friends, his dogs, Charlie Bear and Bella, who were always by his side.
Dennis will forever be remembered by his wife of nearly fifty years, Susan; children Catina (Mike) Sandager of Bay City, Sean (Kristina) Richardson of Menomonie; grandchildren Brooklynn, Mackenzie, Kaysha, Brandyn, Jaysen, Ashlynn, Michael Ethan, Myranda; great grandchildren Aylana, Aurora, Renley, Drake, Kane, Malaysia; siblings Daniel (Jeannette) Richardson of Arkansaw, Rose (Glenn) Peterson of Arkansaw, Judy Richardson of Eau Claire, David Richardson of Baraboo; sister-in-law Evelyn Richardson of Florida’ as well as many nieces and nephews. His parents; brother Donald; and sister-in-law Linda Richardson precede him in death.
A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Arkansaw Community of Christ Church at N6378 County Road D., in Arkansaw, Wisconsin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral and cremations services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
