Dorothy D. Golden

Dorothy D. Golden, age 89 of Brookings, SD, passed away on October 6, 2026 at the Neighborhoods in Brookings. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 at Eidsness Funeral Home. Visitations will begin at 11:30 prior to the funeral.
Dorothy Delores Weinzirl was born on June 14, 1937, in Durand, Wisconsin to Victor and Amelia Weinzirl. She graduated from Durand High School. On September 17, 1955, Dorothy married Howard D. Golden of Durand. They started farming together in Wisconsin and continued farming near Brookings.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, travel, and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookings where she was active in Women’s Circle and Wedding/Funeral Committees.
Survivors include children, Sherrie (Brent) Bloemendaal of Zionsville, IN, Vickie (Bill) Fargen of Elkton, SD, Robert (Julie) Golden of Woodbury, MN, Michael (Shanna) Golden of Sioux Falls, SD, Ronald (Shawn) Golden of Madison, SD and ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joyce Blasko, and her husband of over 60 years, Howard D. Golden.
