Janis Marie (Johnson) Biederman Gibson
Janis Marie (Johnson) Biederman Gibson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born May 12, 1947, to Johnnie and Margaret (McNish) Johnson, “Janny” was the youngest of eight children. She attended grade school in Urne, Wisconsin and graduated from Durand High School.
Janny married Paul Biederman in October 1965. They had three children and later divorced. Janny was a homemaker and dedicated mother. As her children grew, she began working as a receptionist at a local insurance agency. She eventually became a very successful agent with Rural Mutual Insurance.
In July 1984, Janny married William Gibson, and became a stepmother to his daughters. Throughout their marriage, they bought and renovated several homes, which was a hobby they enjoyed together.
Janny appreciated her family and friends. She often shared stories of her childhood and felt very fortunate for each family member, including her many nieces and nephews. Janny was a true and loyal friend to many, always helping anyone who crossed her path.
Janny is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bill Gibson; her three children, Beth (Bob) Gruber of Marshfield, WI, John (Jackie) Biederman and Jason (Tracy) Biederman both of Plum City, WI; stepdaughters Heather (Pete) Tornes, Dorr, MI, and Heidi (Simon) Welsh of Australia; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Additionally, one sister Marilyn (Jerry) Rud of Mondovi, WI and sister-in-law, Pauline Johnson of Arcadia, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Margaret Johnson, and siblings Willard Mathis, Jerry Johnson, Raymond Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Arleane Erickson, and Glenis Hentges.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Lyster Lutheran Church in Urne, rural Nelson, WI with Pastor Mara Ahles-Iverson officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after at the Lyster Lutheran Parish Hall.
