JoAnn M. (Brantner) Rieck

JoAnn M. (Brantner) Rieck, age 81 of Durand, died Monday, September 14, 2026 at her home in Durand with her family by her side.
JoAnn was born on May 7, 1945 on the Brantner family farm in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. She was born on the family farm, lived all of her life and died on the family farm. JoAnn attended Sacred Heart School in Lima. JoAnn took a job at the hospital in Durand (now AdventHealth) in the laundry department and was the supervisor at the end of her career. She retired in 2016. JoAnn married Robert C. “Bob Rieck on December 2, 1978 in Alma. After marriage they lived on the Brantner farm where they raised their family.
JoAnn enjoyed going on rides in the milk truck with her son, Jaramie, going up to Chetek fishing with her son Curt and wife Paula and going on long car rides with her daughter, Tammy. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting and feeding her birds. JoAnn enjoyed taking trips with Bob to Colorado, Wyoming and Green Bay to watch the Packers.
JoAnn is survived by her children, Curt (Paula) Stewart of Arcadia, Tammy (Ken) Caturia of Durand and Jaramie (Lisa) Rieck of Mondovi, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Rieck, sisters, Magdalene Bauer, Lorraine Smith, Regina Rieck, Rosetta Nelson, Mary Ann Brantner and a brother, Charles Brantner.
Prayer Services will be 11:30AM Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand with Deacon Ed Wendt officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30AM until the time of services at the church on Wednesday.
