John Luther Hetrick
John Luther Hetrick, 74, of Stockholm, WI passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Wabasha, MN. He was born June 17, 1951 in Wabasha, MN; son of David and Evelyn (Steele) Hetrick.
He attended school in Pepin, graduating in 1969. On September 22, 1973 he married Aleeta Kosok at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin.
John worked as a mechanic for several years. Always tinkering on something, in his younger years he drove stock car, managing to flip his car and scare everyone. John worked as a parts/warranty employee until retiring in 2013.
John was an avid fisherman- as a young boy he would fish off the Pepin piers, catch his supper and fry them up on the rocks- always took a small bag of flour with him. His greatest joy was teaching his granddaughters how to fish and fry up a pan full of fish for the family to enjoy.
Along with years of running the hills coon hunting, preparing and selling the hides, deer hunting kept him busy in the fall.
He is survived by his wife, Aleeta of 52 years; son, David Hetrick; daughter, Jenohn Newcomb; grandchildren, Riley and Lindsay Newcomb; brothers, James (Geri) Hetrick and Everett (Kim) Hetrick; sister, Darlene (Darrel) Larson; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Evelyn (Steele) Hetrick; step-father, Ole Erickson; brothers, Ronald (Barbara) and Charles (Virginia) Hetrick; sister, Marilyn (James) Fleming.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 -7:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Pepin Lion’s Club.
