In loving memory of Joseph Laverne Powers
Joe Powers (age 86) of Pepin, Wisconsin passed away on July 3, 2025, at the Gunderson St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN.
Joe was born November 6, 1938, to Stanley and Grace (Hetrick) Powers. Joe was the fourth of six children born to the couple who had a total of four boys and two girls. Joe married Karen “Judy” Delong Powers on May 8, 1965. Joe adopted Judy’s sons Tod and Kelly. Joe and Judy completed their family with their daughter Kamilla. Joe enjoyed his time with his family and enjoyed being in the great outdoors. He was known for his happy-go-lucky demeanor and his bright smile. Joe was an experienced trapper, hunter, and fisherman and passed down his love of the outdoors to his children.
Joe was a hardworking man, working for Struth Industries and Lake Pepin Fisheries until he accepted a welding job at FL Meyers. He was a dedicated employee at FL Meyers for 35 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife Judy, his parents, and his brothers Leroy and Duane, sister Carol Marks, and his grandson Brady Erickson. Joe is survived by his sister Jean Ridgeway and brother Jerry Powers as well as sons Tod and Kelly (Diane) and Kamilla (Mark) Wittig, six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He cherished the time that he spent with family, friends, and neighbors throughout his years.
The family of Joe Powers extends deep gratitude to the staff at St. Elizabeth’s Health Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion during Joe’s final days.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin, WI.
