Kayla C. Turpin
Kayla C. Turpin, age 39 of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in rural Lake Delton as the result of a tragic airplane accident along with her mother, Mary Brion, sister, Mandi Haremza and nephew, Rylan Haremza.
Kayla was born on July 23, 1987, in Durand. She was the daughter of David and Mary (Bauer) Brion. Kayla grew up in rural Nelson and graduated from Alma High School in 2005. She then attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and received a degree in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling. Kayla married Quincy Turpin on June 10, 2016, at her parents’, Mary and Daves property. The wedding was held next to “The Pond,” a spot that Kayla, Quincy, and now kids ventured to whenever they got a chance. After marriage they lived in Eau Claire where they started their family. Kayla was the loving mother of “the twins,” Ellis and Emerson- “Emmy.” She loved being with family and watching the kids’ activities, whether it was basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, or even downhill skiing, rarely missing an event. There was nothing that would prevent her from being a great mother and wife.
Family vacations were her favorite. One of her favorite spots was Venice, Florida where she would spend hours in the water hunting shark teeth, looking for an elusive Megalodon tooth.
She was a devoted (maybe an understatement!) Green Bay Packer fan and loved going to games at Lambeau. You might have caught her doing the “Moonwalk” with her sister on Armed Forces Drive while walking into the stadium. You would be sure to notice her with her head-to-toe Green and Gold complete with light up shoes.
Kayla loved spending time with family and friends. She would never turn down a great boat day spending time with everyone. She secretly enjoyed pulling her husband on the tube; trying to get him to fall off seemed to be a passion of hers.
If four words could describe Kayla they would be Loving, Caring, Devoted, and Meticulous. She worked hard and is co-owner of 4 Treasures Adventure Park in Eau Claire. Getting the business open was no easy task. She continued her work in counseling while opening and running the business until the end. She loved working there, seeing the smiles on kids’ faces made her day. She always devoted herself to maintaining cleanliness. This task was number one on her list, just ask any of the employees. She also cared for her staff, always checking up on them when she saw them.
The year 2026 was not an easy year for Kayla. She suffered a stroke in February spending a month in the hospital showing her perseverance on working to learn how to walk, talk, and grasp objects. There was nothing that could stop her and there was nothing that would prevent her from being a great mother and wife.
Kayla is survived by her husband, Quincy, children, Ellis and Emerson, father, Dave Brion of Nelson, sister, Katie (Jeff) Willis, nieces, Ashlee and Kahlen of Kenosha, brother-in-law, Lee Haremza and his sons Keegan and Caysen of Altoona, and special friend/cousin Vicky (Robbie) Lund of Eau Claire.
A Celebration of Life for Kayla and Mary will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Durand Rod & Gun Club in Durand. Private burial will be at a later date.
Memorials are preferred in Kayla’s memory for Ellis and Emerson’s education fund.
Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
