Marvin Henry Thompson

Marvin Henry Thompson, age 74, of Whitehall, WI, formerly of Nelson, WI died Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Trempealeau County Health Care Center in Whitehall.
He was born August 28, 1945 in Wabasha, MN. The second son of Thomas M. and Gladys (Lane) Thompson.
He attended Urne Elementary School and Durand High School. He received his GED while in the United States Navy. Marvin joined the Navy in October 1965 and was honorably discharged in November 1967.
On October 25, 1969 he married Sheila Schiefelbein and they had three daughters. They later divorced.
He married Deborah “Debbie” (Schleusner) Hovland on November 13, 1993. Debbie preceded Marvin in death August 8, 2017.
Marvin worked for various farmers in the area and at Gifford Feed in Maxville.
Marvin had a great love for animals. He had owned almost every domesticated animal possible. His deep love was for horses. He enjoyed taking his daughters to all the horse pulls and county fairs in the area. He is leaving behind his beloved dog “Sugar” (which was adopted by his brother David). Marvin also enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Bruce) Blaylock of Morton, IL, Anita Thompson of Altoona, WI, Mary (Gene) Dubiel of Cable, WI; two grandchildren, Rachel (Ryan) Rendleman of Lafayette, IN and Colin Wincse of Altoona, WI; two brothers, Larry Thompson and David Thompson, both of Nelson; one niece, many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas & Gladys; wife, Debbie and his parent-in-laws Melvin & Ellen Schleusner.
The family will have a celebration of life in the springtime with burial in Lyster Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.goodrichfh.com.
