Mary Ann (Vagasky) Wallin

Mary Ann (Vagasky) Wallin, (83) of Pepin, WI passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021 surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born April 27, 1938 to John and Anna (Matta) Vagasky in Minneapolis, MN.
Mary graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. She went on to further her education at the University of Minnesota, graduating with honors with the Class of 1960. With her major in Health & Physical Education, Mary taught in the Minneapolis school system for 11 years.
On October 28, 1967 Mary was united in marriage to Ralph Donovan Wallin. With Ralph being from the Stockholm/ Pepin area, Mary made the move from the city to the country.
Mary loved sewing, reading, gardening, but most of all cooking and baking.
In 1971, Ralph and Mary purchased the Pepin Hotel. With the business, Mary was able to grow her love of cooking to a new level. Whether it was the Friday night fish fry’s, Sunday buffets or the banquets that fed hundreds.
In 1985, Ralph and Mary would purchase their last venture together, Ralph’s Bar & Mary’s Kitchen. With all the years in business, Mary was always so thankful for the trips they hosted. Whether it was a trip to a ball game or their annual trips to Las Vegas and Mexico. In 2015, after 44 years in the restaurant/tavern industry, Mary was able to retire.
Mary leaves behind three children that dearly loved, respected and adored her, Anne (Dan) Murray, Bradley (Lana) Wallin, and Jennifer (Tim) McCormick.
