Sherry Holt

Sherry Holt was born June 18th, 1938, to Claude Andrews Sr. & Lorraine Ristow at a time marked by great change, our beloved Sherry was delivered into this world at home by her father in Buffalo City, WI. She was born into a family of 4 children, two of which did not survive their first year of life.
In 1946 at 8 years old Sherry met Marshall Mark Holt. They both attended Maiden Rock School, in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin. Sherry was invited to a house party in Plum City, WI. Marshall pushed Sherry in the swing, under the branches of a tree, kissed her on the cheek and cemented a bond that day that would last for 70 long years. They married on November 6th of 1954. Together they began a legacy of love that grew to include 6 children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren.
Sherry held many jobs in her lifetime, starting in1954 with Red Wing Shoe company, next came the most important job of her life- raising her 6 children. In the 1960’s and 1970’s Sherry helped Marshall work on their dairy farm, and she was an aid in the Pepin Nursing Home. In 1977 she worked as a cook and later owned the Waterfront Café in Maiden Rock, WI. She was a C.N.A. and Home Healthcare Nurse in the 1980’s. Then at the age of 45 when her children were raised, she got her first drivers license and later her C.D.L and she joined her husband in the semi-truck. Together they drove coast-to-coast for twenty plus years. They eventually started their own trucking company and were blessed to have their children work with them.
After retirement in 2006 Sherry and Marshall stayed in the house that they built together on the Holt family land. Later they downsized and ultimately settled in Pepin, WI. where they could be surrounded by visits from their friends and family.
All throughout Sherry’s life the central focus was God and family. She strove each day of her life to be a witness to others, and to spread God’s love. Sherry even wrote a book for her family, a conglomeration of short stories and recipes. In it she wrote that her greatest desire was to stand before the Lord one day and have him say to her. “Well done, my good and faithful servant, well done”
On Wednesday July 30th, 2025, in the Pepin Eagles Rest assisted living facility, surround by her loving family, Sherry entered into eternity with her Lord and Savior. Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 70 years Marshall Mark Holt. Her daughter: Darla Holt (Neil Makes Cold Weather), son: Merlin “Joe” (Janela Junker), Holt (Julie Salmon-Holt), daughter: Laura (Jason) Camp (Jeffery Smith), son: Miles (Penney Reinhardt) Holt.
Sherry was blessed to be survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of beloved cousins, cherished nieces and nephews, their children and even their children’s children. Shery was also proud to be called “Mom” by countless others who adored her as their own.
Sherry is preceded in death by her son Michael Gene Holt (Gloria Larson-Holt, living)(Diane Lindquist-Holt, living)(Anita Hardy- Seipel also deceased), her son Mark Lloyd Holt( Rita Brantner- Holt- Shaw, living), her brother Claude Andrews Jr.(Donna Kidd-Andrews, living), her mother Lorraine Andrews (Ristow), her father Claude “Buster” Andrews Sr, and two brothers in infancy.
Pastor Paul Langmade of Living Hope Community Church will officiate funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 8th, 2025, at the Abbott Funeral home in Wabasha, MN. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Grave side memorial will be at the Maiden Rock Cemetery following the funeral services.
