Buffaloes run at Bloomer and C-FC Super Saturday meets

        The Mondovi Buffaloes ran two competitive meets this last week and almost the entire team broke their own personal records, which is a huge accomplishment!

First, on Tuesday, May 5, the tracksters made their way to Bloomer for the annual Dave Landgraf Memorial Meet, where at least 75 percent of the team set at least one personal record.

Bailey Van Den Heuvel took first place in the 100 meter hurdles and discus, and took third in the shot; Jacey Risler took third in the 100 meter hurdles and 300 hurdles, and fifth in pole vault; Shanna Laehn placed first in the 100 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles, and second in triple jump; Maddie Gilbertson took fourth place in the 1600, followed by Kateri Hansen in fifth and Amanda Rud in sixth; Gilbertson also took fifth in the 800 followed by Hansen in sixth and Sydney Ede in eighth; Rud finished sixth in the 3200; Liz Berns took seventh in high jump; Mickena Rennich took sixth in triple jump followed by Claire Bee in seventh; Miranda Lund placed third in discus and seventh in shot; and Amelia Flaskrud took sixth in discus and shot.

The girls 4x100 relay team took second and the 4x200 team took sixth.

For the boys, Shane Van Roo took second in the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles; Marc Kluge took fifth in the 1600; Zach Kluge took fourth in the 3200; Daniel Gruber took eighth in the 3200; Hunter Evans took third in high jump and fifth in triple jump; Dylan Kowalczyk took fifth in discus and second in shot put; and Kaleb Schwinefus took seventh.

The 4x100 relay team took third and the 4x400 squad finished first.

Overall, the girls took second by one point and the boys took sixth.

On Saturday, the Buffaloes went to the Cochrane-Fountain City Super Saturday meet.

Haley Poeschel took seventh in the 100 meter dash, seventh in long jump, and second in pole vault; Van Den Heuvel took eighth in the 100 meter dash, third in long jump, and second in discus; Laehn took second in the 200 meter dash and the 100 meter hurdles and first in the 300 meter hurdles; Ede took eighth in the 400 meter dash and high jump; Gilbertson took fifth in the 800 and first in the 1600; Hansen took second in the 800; Risler took eighth in the 100 meter hurdles, and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles; Rud took second in the 3200; Berns took second in high jump and sixth in long jump; Flaskrud took third in shot put; and Lund took seventh in shot put. 

For the boys, Brett Bursaw took sixth in the 100 meter dash; Marc Kluge took fourth in the 800 and first in the 1600; Zach Kluge took seventh in the 1600 and third in the 3200; Gruber took fourth in the 3200; Luke Harding took fourth in the 300 m hurdles and fifth in pole vault; Evans took first in high jump and eighth in long jump; and Schwinefus took sixth in shot put.

As a team, the Mondovi girls took third overall and the boys took fifth.

After Mondovi’s home meet on Tuesday, May 12, the Buffaloes will compete in a conference meet in Colfax next week.
