The Mondovi girls basketball team had a long week of great practices leading up to their non-conference game against the Cadott Hornets on Friday, Jan. 23, allowing the Lady Buffs to top the Hornets 32-27.

The girls started off the game down by three at the end of the first quarter, but as soon as they came back out in the second quarter the girls found their rhythm and took control of the game. The Buffaloes worked like a well-oiled machine, finding open shots and shutting Cadott down with their defense. At the end of the first half, the girls were leading the game by eight, with the scoreboard reading 19-11.

The Mondovi girls dictated the game for the next 16 minutes, crushing the Hornets on their way to their second win of the season.

Mattie Mahlum paved the way for the Lady Buffs, scoring 13 points for the team. Shanna Laehn followed suit with five points and Amanda Rud and Jacey Risler chipped in with three points each.

This week, the girls are much busier; they play three games this week! The girls hosted another non-conference game on Monday, Jan. 26, against Independence and made the trip to play Elmwood/Plum City on Tuesday, Jan. 27. On Friday, Jan. 30, they girls will play at home against Saint Croix Central.
