Local chiropractor opts to fly solo with new private practice

There’s a new sign up in front of Dr. Andy Van Roo’s office, but the Mondovi chiropractor plans to continue to offer the same services to his patients that have made him a go-to in the local area.
Dr. Van Roo officially began practicing on his own under the Van Roo Chiropractic name on Sept. 1 after operating as an Allied Health Chiropractic office. Van Roo, who holds over 17 years of chiropractic experience, initiated the move about a year ago to turn a longtime goal into a reality.
“I had always wanted to have my own practice,” Dr. Van Roo explained. “I had the experience and was well-established, so I felt it was time.”
Helping the chiropractor make a smooth transition to a private practice are two longtime office team members in chiropractic technician Diane Weber and office manager Rachel Sosalla.
“It’s kind of fun,” said Dr. Van Roo of operating his own practice. “It’s a change. I don’t have to deal with a lot of the meetings associated with a corporation, but I have to keep an eye on stuff, too.”
With the recent changes have come some new responsibilities for the chiropractic office, located at 910 Countryside Parkway on Mondovi’s northwest side.
Van Roo lists learning about the administrative side of office operations, new computer updates like patient check-in using iPads, and keeping abreast of the ever-shifting landscape of health insurance as some of the adjustments he has made since moving into operating his own business.
“There have been a lot of changes in healthcare in the last few years,” he remarked.
Dr. Van Roo will continue to specialize in straight chiropractic services, manipulations and adjustments, physiotherapy, and orthopedic care. In the future, he hopes to offer more rehab in-house.
The Van Roo Chiropractic office building also houses massage therapist Stephanie Baier, who rents space from Van Roo to provide another aspect of back care to the local community.
In addition to his new private practice, Dr. Van Roo is involved in the local sports scene as the current president of the Mondovi Athletic Association. He has also assisted prep athletes on the sidelines at Mondovi varsity football games for the past nine seasons as a volunteer physician, working with athletic trainers from Luther Hospital to help keep the Buffaloes’ gridiron gang on the field.
Dr. Van Roo is also an adjunct instructor for Northwestern Health Sciences University, teaching post-graduate courses in exercise science and rehabilitation.
A Denmark, Wis., native, Dr. Andy Van Roo (DC, FACO, CCST) was certified as a Doctor of Chiropractic by Palmer College in 1997. He was also named Allied Health Doctor of the Year in 2006.
