On March 14-21, Dustin Nelson of Mondovi traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to play baseball as a Yellowjacket. Nelson is a member of the Rochester Community and Technical College baseball team. The spring trip consisted of the first 11 games of the Yellowjacket’s 46 game season.
Nelson, a freshmen with RCTC, played in nine of the 11 matches. Nelson’s batting average for the week was .448. Nelson also had one home-run, five stolen bases and four doubles (2B), driving in 11 runs.
“It was a lot of fun, that’s for sure,” Nelson said. “It felt great to be back outside playing ball again.”
On March 23 on the RCTC website, Nelson was named the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Southern Division Player of the week. The Yellowjackets came home with a 7-4 record.
Nelson,19, is the son of Molly Marsh and Stacey Nelson of Mondovi.
