Starting off finals week for the Lady Buffs they took on Independence on Tuesday, Jan. 19. Even though the girls could be found studying prior to the game, they were ready to play.

Going strong in the first half sophomore Haley Poeschel scored 14 of the Lady Buffs’ 30 points. Holding a nine-point lead over the Indees going into halftime, the Lady Buffs still stood strong.

Hoping to execute in the second half, the Lady Buffs kept scoring, but so did Independence. Battling between fouls and easy baskets, the Lady Buffs fell short of Independence by three points, 55-52.

Poeschel paced the Lady Buffs with 23 points and Emily Flaskrud added 12.

The leading scorer for Independence was Morgan Speltz with 33 points.

Ending finals week with a tough conference game against Colfax led the Lady Buffs to another hard week.

In the first half the Lady Buffs struggled to put shots up against the Colfax defense and only scored seven points while the Vikings put up 32. Running into the locker room hoping to gather themselves for the next half, the Lady Buffs looked to run in the second half, putting up 13 points. But Colfax wouldn’t be slowed and the Vikings handed Mondovi the tough 60-20 loss.

McKenzie Akina led the Lady Buffs with six points that evening.

The leading scorer for Colfax was Ally Heidorn with 15 points.

The Mondovi girls hosted Elk Mound on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and traveled to face Elmwood/Plum City on Friday, Jan. 29. The girls will also host Cadott for a non-conference game on Monday, Feb. 1, to kick off a three game homestand.
