Mondovi softball season ends
The Mondovi Lady Buffaloes ended a hard fought season during the first round of regionals with a season record of 7-17, on Thursday, May 21, against the tough competition of Elk Mound, their current record of 25-4.
The Lady Buffs traveled to Elk Mound with hopes of bringing home a win. Both teams remained scoreless in the first inning, but Elk Mound managed to pull ahead earning two runs in the second inning.
In the bottom of the third, the Mounders managed to add another 13 runs to their lead. The Lady Buffs couldn’t manage to add any runs to the board, and the game ended in the fifth, 15-0, Elk Mound on top.
Coach Kayla Williams said that for a team with only one senior, pitcher Jacquelyn Laursen, they made a lot of improvements and played some really great ball at the end of the season.
“Our play-off game didn’t go like we planned, but I am very optimistic about the future of the program,” Williams said. “We will be playing together all summer and will continue working in the offseason to get stronger and faster. Hopefully the time that they put in will help make us an even better team next year.”
