MPL announces major donation focused on finishing longtime library goals

A donation announcement by the Mondovi Public Library last week is anticipated to lead to a new library facility adjacent to the existing structure. Ed and Shirley Mahlum (front) have volunteered to donate the vacant lot to the east of the current MPL building along with $150,000 toward a new city library. The need for more space by adding on to Mondovi’s current 2,500-square foot library facility or going elsewhere with the library has been discussed for decades, but the recent donation of a vacant lot and cash is expected to bring positive direction and progress toward a new MPL.
