Delta Air Lines is flying 30 veterans to Normandy, France, in partnership with the Best Defense Foundation. The airline is operating a special nonstop charter flight from Atlanta to Deauville, Norman-dy, landing June 1, with the return to Atlanta set for June 9. This flight marks the fourth time a U.S. airline has flown directly to Normandy, and all four flights have been Delta charters. Delta also collabo-rates with the Best Defense Foundation by sending 10 students to Normandy as part of its NextGen Program. These students will join veterans in visiting historic locations and will attend the Freedom Prize ceremony in Caen, France, on June 3.During their stay in Norman-dy, the veterans and students will participate in special events to remember and honor those who served, helping to connect different cultures and teach new generations about the past. These events will include trips to Omaha Beach and other significant D-Day locations.Scott Lien, CEO of Grand-pad, won't just be giving Grandpad to veterans for their trip to Normandy; he'll be right there with them, boarding the plane on June 1. Grandpad has stepped up as a sponsor for this journey, providing every World War II veteran on the trip with their own Grandpad tablet to use both during the trip and to keep when they return home. Lien reflected on touch-ing moments when veterans who have met and gone on the trip can reconnect through group video calls, made possible by their Grandpad tablets. For Lien, witnessing and sharing these reunion video calls on the journey has been a privilege. This will be his first trip to Normandy with the veterans, and he knows the trip will be full of powerful moments, and he's grateful that he and his company can play a role in honoring these veterans.
