Carl Edward Morsbach

Carl Edward Morsbach, born December 28, 1938, in Rockford, Illinois, passed away on March 18, 2026 in Ella, Wisconsin.
Carl was the son of Edward Morsbach and Ruth Morsbach. He grew up in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from DeVry Institute of Technology. He began his career as an electrical engineer for Micro Switch, then founded KEMCO Engineering in Freeport, Illinois, serving local industry. Later, he expanded his business ventures into manufacturing with ABC Products, producing heating equipment for the agricultural industry.
After retiring in 2007, Carl moved to the Morsbach family farm in Ella, Wisconsin with his partner, Patricia Sutterlin. There, he enjoyed farm life and operated a 100-head cow/calf operation alongside his friend Pete Johnson. He was a social member of the community and had a fondness for his close friends Dave Linderud, Corey Norby, and the Anderson family. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of the Chippewa Valley Motor Car Association.
Carl had a gift for seeing value where others might not. He often lived by the idea that one man’s junk was another man’s treasure, and that outlook was reflected in both his resourcefulness and appreciation for the overlooked. He especially enjoyed sitting on the highest perch on the Morsbach farm, known as the Goat Prairie, where he would tell stories and share the beauty of the Tiffany Bottoms with others.
Carl is survived by his former wife, Nancy Morsbach; his children, Karen Morsbach, Douglas Morsbach, Bonnie Morsbach, and Jennifer Morsbach; and his grandchildren, Olivia, Penelope, Gautham, Beatrice, and Aadya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Morsbach and Ruth Morsbach; his sisters, Mary Bennit and Jean Morsbach; and his partner, Patricia Sutterlin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
