Kevin Gerald Andre

Kevin Gerald Andre of Durand, WI, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, at the age of 78.
Kevin was born on August 7, 1948, in Durand, Wisconsin to Gerald and Doris (Keenlyne) Andre. He spent his whole life in Maxville Township, South of Durand before moving to the nursing home in 2017. He most recently resided at Spring Valley Health and Rehab facility, in Spring Valley WI. Kevin attended St. Mary’s grade school, graduated from Durand High School in 1966 and from Eau Claire Vocational School in 1969, from the Machinist program.
Kevin held various jobs over the years. Early on at the Durand Canning Company, Bauer Built Tire and Presto Industries. He was most well known in the area working for various logging companies, including Steward Logging and Brunkow Hardwards and as a bouncer at Prairie Inn and Corral Bar. In his later years he worked at RDO Farms and drove for Pepin County Human Services and Panther Bus Service.
Kevin was a giving and social person, making lasting impressions and friendships with all who was fortunate to know him. He had a witty sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. Kevin was crafty and talented. He focused mainly on woodworking and carving projects and knitting scarfs and hats, of which he took great pleasure in sharing and donating his creations. Even in his later years while living in the nursing home, he continued to knit hats and build small birdhouse and carvings to share.
Kevin’s hobbies also included hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. Some of his favorite memories stem from deer camp with lifelong friends Steve Brunner, Steve’s son Jeremy Brunner, Ken Manor and Kevin’s brother Nolan.
Kevin is survived by his siblings, sister Camille (Randy) Koivisto of Stacy, MN, brother Nolan (Sharry) Andre and sister Laurel (Dale) Gruber of Durand, WI, and brother Barry (Kim) Andre of Eau Claire, WI. God daughters/nieces Minda Schmitz and Jody Fedie and numerous other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Doris Andre, three sisters, Rochelle Oney, Cheryl Andre, Nadine Asher and two brothers, Bruce Andre, in infancy and Bradley Andre, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank Spring Valley Health and Rehab for making Kevin’s final years so enjoyable with more friends made and the wonderful care he received and the staff at Mayo Clinic for the exceptional care and compassion he received over the past month.
Memorial services for Kevin will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 11-1 PM at Rhiel Funeral Home, Durand. A brief prayer will follow at 1 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Durand.
