Curtis Matuska

Curtis Eugene Matuska, 96, of Strum, died Friday, November 18, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Oakridge in Osseo.
Curtis was born November 28, 1919 in Fairmont, ND to Frank and Hilda (Erickson) Matuska.
Curtis was a WWII veteran, having served as an Army Medic in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, (New Guinea).
Curtis married Mary Jane Olson on June 30, 1951. Curtis and Mary Jane lived in Crystal, MN until 1977 when they moved to Strum. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2005.
Curtis worked for the Soo Line Railroad for a number of years before becoming head of maintenance for Harold’s Ladies Apparel and Schlamp’s Furs in Minneapolis. After moving to Strum he drove school bus for the Eleva-Strum School District and worked at Schiefelbein Funeral Home for several years.
Curtis is survived by his nephew, George Hurley of Brooklyn Park, MN, his niece, Joan (Dan) Rudolph of Plymouth, MN and other family members and many friends who will miss him.
In addition to his wife, Mary Jane, he was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hilda of Wahpeton, ND, and sister Alice Hurley of New Hope, MN.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum. Rev. Paul Tobiason will officiate. Burial will follow in West Beef River Lutheran Cemetery, rural Strum.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9-11 am.
Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo is assisting the family.
