Carol Jean Maug

Carol Jean Maug, 59, of Strum, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a short battle with cancer.
Carol was born June 30, 1956 in Eau Claire to Morten and Leona (Olson) Christianson. She graduated from Eleva-Strum High School in 1974 and attended CVTC where she received a degree in accounting.
Carol married David Maug on October 15, 1977 at Norden Lutheran Church in rural Eleva.
Carol worked as a tax preparer/accountant for Haukeness Tax Service in Strum for 23 years.
Carol enjoyed spending time with family and friends -attending all her children’s events. She was active in Immanuel Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and in the women’s groups. She enjoyed reading, Hallmark and Lifetime movies, working in her garden and around the farm. She loved cats, rabbits and horses.
Carol is survived by her husband David; three sons, Michael Maug (Tamissa Bluem) of Eau Claire, Matthew Maug of Strum and Cory Maug of Strum; two grandsons, Ethan and Noah; step grandson Caden Rosman; her mother Leona Christianson of Eleva, sister, Muriel Cox of Mondovi; brothers Allen (Debbie) Christianson of Strum and Curtis Christianson (Vicki Gore) of Eleva. She is further survived by her father-in-law Clarence Maug of Strum; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Dekan (Jim Germann) of Brackett, Joanne (Steve) Herbenson of Eau Claire, Wayne (Susan) Maug of Eleva; special friend Dawn Christianson and many other loving nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Morten; brother, Gerald Christianson; brother-in-law Frank Cox; sister-in-law Carolyn Enger; mother-in-law, Avis Maug.
Memorial services were held on Monday, March 21 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum with Rev. K.D. Taylor officiating. Burial was in West Beef River Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends called from 3-7 p.m., Sunday at the church. Friends also called from 10–11 a.m. at the church on Monday.
Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Osseo is assisting the family.
