Eleva-Strum girls track Dairyland true team champs
Eleva-Strum's girls finished first in the Dairyland Conference Large Division and first overall in the DC's True Team Invitational held last week Thursday at Blair-Taylor. The Cardinals scored 1,025 division points and 881.5 overall conference points.
E-S's boys were second in the Large Division and second overall. Osseo-Fairchild boys were fifth in the Large and ninth overall. O-F's girls placed six in the division and 10th overall. Augusta's boys were sixth in the Large and 11th overall and the AJS girls' placed fourth in the division and seventh overall.
The results bode well for Central's track teams as they make a bid for conference titles in the DC meet being held this Thursday, May 14 at Augusta High School starting at 4 p.m.
Tri-County Area athletes finishing in the top three of this meet include E-S girls' 3200-meter relay team, second; Augusta's Viola MacDonald, first in the 100-meter high hurdles in :17.87 seconds; E-S's Avery Spanberg, third, 100-meter dash; Augusta's Zale Pettis, second in the 1600-meter run in 4:50.83; the AHS girls 800-meter relay team of Zoey Guntner, Stephanie Bergman, Annabelle Goetz and Kinley Nelson, first in 1:56.53 with E-S second; E-S boys 800-meter relay team of Luis Kinser, Brock Stendahl, Logan Riesenweber and Bo Windjue first in 1:41.93; Guntner, second in the girls 300-meter low hurdles, Windjue, second in the boys 300-meter IM hurdles; Osseo-Fairchild's Naomi Hoffman, third in the 200-meter dash; E-S girls 1600-meter relay team of Aliza Kulig, Callan Skoug, Annelyse Peterson and Lydia Nicolet, first in 4:31.26; Jaxon Rindal of E-S, first in the discus with a record throw of 148 feet along with a third in the shot put; Windjue in the high jump, third; Guntner and Kulig in the high jump, 2-3; Spangberg in the pole vault, second; Hoffman in the long jump, second and Russell Hulett of Eleva-Strum in the triple jump, third.
Fall Creek competed in the Stanley-Boyd Invitational held last week Friday, May 8. FC's girls placed ninth and the boys finished fifth with some athletes being held out for the big, statewide Arrowhead Invitational in Hartland which took place Saturday, May 9.
Top three finishers from FCHS were Lydia Sopiarz, first in the 100 hurdles in :16.65 seconds; Ben Pilgrim, second in the 100-meter dash; Ira Mason, first in the 300 hurdles in :43.58 seconds; and Trey Winsand, first in the triple jump at 39-6.
Fall Creek hosts the Western Cloverbelt Conference meet next Tuesday, May 19 at 4 p.m. at the Schultz Field Complex.
