Osseo City Council renews conditional use permit for business but running out of paitience with it

OSSEO - A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for a metal recycling business owned and operated by Cody Knuth and located right across from city hall was approved for additional six months. However, council members warned that unless the site is cleaned up to the conditions of the permit, it will be vacated.

The decision was made at the council's March meeting back on the 8th. Complaints again came to the city from citizens and nearby businesses concerned about junk on the property. Knuth says there's five thousand pounds of steel; on pallets next to a shed there which have to be moved and needs time to find a fork-lift to move it as he said his own loader broke down. Knuth said he hopes to stay in the terms of the permit and hopefully be able to possibly find a new location for his business, which has been at that spot and received the original CUP back in July of 2020.

The council also discussed city code violations at properties on Hwy. 10 and on 9th St.

The council approved a Certified Survey Map (CSM) for Kwik Trip and privacy fence for property on Harmony St. They also approved invoices to be paid to Cedar Corp. Public Engineering Company out of Menomonie, SEH Public Engineering Corporation out of Chippewa Falls along with other public works orders. The work by the public engineering for is for upcoming street project on 5th St and the new wastewater treatment plant.
