Osseo-Fairchild boys hoopsters get first win of season

The Osseo-Fairchild High School Boys' Basketball Team won its first game of the 2021-22 season on Tuesday, Jan. 4 of this week by a 52-38 score over Thorp in Western Cloverbelt Conference play.

The win puts O-F at 1-7 overall and they'll go for win No. 2 in a row as they host unbeaten in league play Stanley-Boyd on Friday, Jan. 7.

In other boys' basketball action from Tuesday, Augusta downed Tri-County rival Eleva-Strum at Central 71-53. The Beavers had five players in double figures led by Tyler Brixsen's 23 points with teammates Dalton Robinson scoring 14 points, Aiden Anderson 12 and Drew Jacobs and Brennan King 11 points each. King also had team-bests in rebounds (9) and assists (5). The win puts the Beavers at 5-3 overall and 2-2 in the Large Dairyland, just a game back from first place.

Brady Monson scored 15 points to lead E-S while the Cardinals Sawyer Deetz scored 12 points. Central drops to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the Large Dairyland. Augusta has a non-conference game at Colfax on Thursday, Jan. 6 while Eleva-Strum hosts Alma/Pepin on Friday, Jan. 7.

Augusta played in the lone girls' hoops game for Tri-County Area prep teams on Tuesday, Jan. 4, losing at Eau Claire Regis 66-49 to drop to 3-7 overall. The Ramblers used a strong second half to pull away from a close halftime score of 28-22 Regis. Brittany Bergman led the Beavers in scoring with 17 points, Kennedy Korger scored 13 points and Kirsten Willems had 12 points. AHS hosts Gilmanton on Thursday, Jan. 6.
