Strum Village Board approves budget at special meeting
STRUM - The Strum Village Board approved the village's 2025 budget at a special meeting of the Board held back on Nov. 25 at the Strum Civic Center.
The Village will spend $1,153,515.18. The proposed taxes to be levied are $343,407.00. There was discussion and debate over including a budget outlay for $8,300 for the village's pickleball court in Lake Crystal Park, which would have increased the proposed levy to $420,407. An amendment to remove this outlay from the budget and postpone paying it until the 2026 budget was approved by 4-1 vote. The entire budget for the village was approved by a 4-1 vote as well.
Board member Josh Stendahl announced his resignation from the Board in a letter read before the Board during its regular meeting back on the 11th, also at the Civic Center. His resignation was approved by Board members They also unanimously approved the appointment of Greg Maki to the Board.
During the regular meeting, the Board approved three building permits: a fence at 133 W Walnut St., a fence at 315 5th Ave. and a fence at 532 Elm St. The Board also approved a $25/month phone stipend for Village Clerk Tish Campbell.
Discussed at the meeting was correspondence with the DNR and the lease with the Viking Golf and Dine facility.
