Strum Village Board approves hardware store renovation plan
STRUM - The Strum Village Board approved plans for the renovation of the Strum Hardware Storm at its March meeting held back on the 9th at Strum Civic Center..
Brad Nicolet appeared before the Board to discuss the Hardware Store reconstruction happening this spring. Building will be approx. 4,872 sq. ft. with the parking lot going between the store and M&M bar. The Board gave its unanimous approval.
A 42 percent deficit in the sewer account was discussed. Board members agreed to a 10 percent increase to sewer rates to close this deficit. In a related item, A simple rate increase was approved by the Public Service Commission (PSC). New rates went into effect 4/1/2026 for water and hydrant rental (fire protection).
The Village Clerk presented to the Board possible uncollected personal property tax dating back to 2020. After some discussion it was suggested letters be sent to businesses owners that are still in operation asking for
payment or proof of payment..
The Board approved a cash transfer of the amount of $6,256 from the General to Joint Sewer Savings on April 1st for 2025 back payment and October 1st for 2026 payment to fulfill the loan requirement set forth.
