Anthony “Tony” Wallerich

Anthony “Tony” Wallerich, age 91, of Wabasha, MN, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025. He was born January 7, 1934 in Wabasha to Helen (Passe) and Albert Wallerich. He married Mary Ann Wobbe on June 27, 1959, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha and they had four children: Steve, Greg, Ron and Ann. Together they farmed their entire married life on the Wallerich family farm, a century farm since 1877 on Pepin Hill. Mary Ann passed away March 2006. He was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Society. Tony served on many boards including Pepin Township and Wabasha County ASCS. He volunteered at Gundersen – St. Elizabeth as a guardian angel and helped setup Jake’s Field of Dreams. He enjoyed driving tractor, playing euchre at Roy’s, following the Twins and Vikings, and being in the Pool Club for over 30 years. He and Mary Ann also belonged to the Pepin Hill Farmers Club and the National Farmers Organization. On October 22, 2010, Tony married Rita (Sexton) Schmidt. Together they enjoyed golfing, playing cards and family. Tony is survived by his sons: Steve (Lora Richardson) Wallerich and Ron Wallerich; daughter Ann Wallerich; step sons: Joe (Juli) Steve “Qui”, Gary (Vicki), David, and Paul (Julee); step daughters: Diane Walden, Sue Bee, Mary (David) Bluhm, Rose (David) McNamara, and Karen (Chad) Collins; siblings: Catherine Roemer, Helen (Chris) Nagell and Michael (Linda) Wallerich; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives Mary Ann (Wobbe) and Rita (Sexton) Schmidt; a son Greg Wallerich and a sister Albertine Wobbe. Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2025, at St. Felix Catholic Church, Wabasha, with Fr. Tom Loomis officiating. He will be interred at St. Felix Cemetery, Wabasha, MN. Visitation will be 4 -7 p.m. Thursday, September 18, at Abbott Funeral Home, Wabasha with prayers at 7 p.m. The visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church. A celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, September 19 at the Lake Pepin Golf Course. Memorials are requested to St. Felix School Adopt-a-Student Program or Jake’s Field of Dreams.
